The Okavango Delta is one of the world’s largest inland deltas and a unique natural wonder, home to an incredible array of wildlife and a diverse range of habitats, from grasslands and savannas to wetlands and floodplains. The Okavango Delta is renowned for its incredible wildlife, with some of the most sought-after species, including elephants, lions, leopards, buffalos, giraffes, hippos, crocodiles, and many species of antelope. The Delta is also a birdwatcher’s paradise, with over 450 species in the area.
In this package, our potential guests have the opportunity to have a ‘glimpse’ at one of natural wonders of the World and have a glance at what it has to offer. This comes as a 2 night stay in the Moremi Game Reserve followed by another 2 nights in the Khwai Community Concession.
Xakanaxa is the destination for the first 2 nights in Moremi where guests occupy tented accommodation in true wilderness style with safari’s including game drives and boat cruises. African Excursions Guest House is the destination for the last 2 nights in Khwai whereby guests are availed with luxury thatched accommodation. This small establishment with seven rooms also boasts a bar, shared lounge, garden and Wi-Fi access. Safari guided tours such as game drives and mokoro cruises are provided around the concession and within the Moremi Game Reserve.
Day 1 – Xakanaxa
Upon arrival at the Maun International Airport, a meet up with our guides commences day 1 in the morning hours before embarking on a long 5-6 hour road transfer to Xakanaxa. The trip will run concurrent with game viewing in the Moremi Game Reserve. Arrival at Xakanaxa in the late afternoon will be welcomed by our team on camp followed by a refreshing shower and dinner before having an early lights out.
Day 2 – Xakanaxa
Guests are woken up by our guides for light breakfast, followed by a morning game drive in the Xakanaxa area. The drive will end with a quick stop for coffee with biscuits before slowly returning to camp for lunch and some siesta time. The afternoon gives guests the opportunity to embark on a boat cruise excursion along the meandering channels and lagoons of the Okavango Delta. Afterwards, our guides will pick a spot to have a sundowner with glasses of wine before returning to camp for dinner and a night’s rest.
Day 3 – Khwai
Guests wake up to breakfast with our guides and express their last goodbyes to Xakanaxa followed by a road trip to the Khwai Community Concession. In the afternoon, arrival at African Excursions Guest House will be met by a welcome drink as well as the luxuries of staying in fully furnished rooms with private showers and ancillary services e.g. Wi-Fi access. The dining area will be the meet up spot for the last meal of the day then lights out.
Day 4 – Khwai
An early wake up by our guides for light breakfast starts off the day before heading out for a morning game drive in the Khwai Concession. A return to camp for lunch follows up then guests can have hot showers and well needed siesta time. Our guides will then transfer guests to the mokoro station which is a 30 minutes’ drive away from the guest house. Experienced polers will pole our guests on a traditional dugout canoe along the Khwai River for 2-3 hours. Afterwards, an early dinner call follows in order to have the opportunity of a night game drive in the Khwai Concession. Lastly, guests return to camp for their last night in Khwai.
Day 5 – Maun
Guests are treated to a full English breakfast on their last day before bidding farewell to our team. Guests will travel to Maun with our guides, concurrent with some game viewing in the Moremi Game Reserve and some quick stops by some river banks for photographs. Arrival at the Maun International Airport, marks the end of service.
Kindly note that as opposed to road transfers between Khwai, Xakanaxa and Maun, flights can be organized for guests.
