African Excursions

The Kalahari, derived from the Tswana Word “kgala” meaning the great thirst of kgalagadi, meaning a ”waterless place”. The Kalahari covers most of southern Africa countries, North part of South Africa, most parts of Botswana and Namibia and Angola. The north side of the Kalahari, where we find the Okavango Delta has a richer and greater variety of wildlife then the dryer south. The south is where we find CKGR, famous for its black-maned Kalahari Lions. Cheetah and leopard can also be found here. Reptiles and amphibians can also survive here, it is very incredible to hear the frog chorus commence as soon as rain arrives, “don’t make too much noise whilst in the Kalahari, so that you do not miss out on anything.

The vegetation is varied, with dry land complemented by permanent and seasonal swamplands, resulting in an excellent diversity of both wildlife and birdlife. There is a great network of game drive routes through the reserve.  You will spend two nights in this magnificent area which never fails to impress. You will do game drives in the early mornings as the sun rises and in the late afternoon. After morning game drives you will return to camp for siesta, followed by sunset boat cruise in Xakanaxa.
